DIY MEMORY JAR

I wanted to share this super easy DIY memory jar that I've been keeping up with since the start of the New Year. I've seen several people show their versions of memory jars and I found that this method was the easiest and still looked adorable, with minimal effort.

I started my jar at the beginning of the year, so I could record all the little and large things that made a lasting impression on me throughout 2014. However, you can start this at any point in the year. You could make a jar of little things that make you happy or travel memories you have throughout your lifetime. Though I don't have children, you could easily write down all their little milestones (and dates) and stick them in the jar. This jar is for you and for you only, so make it whatever you want it to be.

For supplies, all you need is a jar, small pieces of colorful paper, and a pen for writing down your memories! If you prefer, you can decorate your jar, but I always prefer things to be rather simplistic and minimal. I don't know if I can even classify as this as a DIY, because it's SO easy. Just sit your jar wherever you want in your home and keep your pieces of paper (or post-it notes) and pen somewhere that you'll see often, to remind you to write. On my notes, I write about anything from something sweet someone said to me or something major that happens, like getting accepted into a new university (!).

Whenever something strikes you as memorable or makes you exceptionally happy, jot it down, fold it into a square and toss it in the jar. It looks adorable as a little DIY decor and looking back at all the memories and happiness will remind you that despite any negativity that you've experienced in your life, there are an overwhelming number of daily pieces of happiness and memories that make life sweet.
